Taken from our Landroval-fellow-Coursera-kinship-forum: a playing tag guide

Well, today we move into the 6th and last week of the Coursera Online Games course. The peer-assessed assignment for this week (which does not require any in-game activity) has recently been posted. In addition, the syllabus indicates that the in-game assignment for week 6 is to play tag.

There are actually two versions of tag implemented in LOTRO: one, which I might call ‘traditional tag,’ is the game where someone starts as ‘it’ and whoever he/she tags becomes ‘it’ .. etc. To play Tag, visit Tad Hollyway at the ruins overlooking the Hedge Maze, southeast of the Festival Grounds in Bree [25.6S, 50.9W] and activate the Tag Beacon.

The other game is ‘freeze tag’ where, once you are tagged, you become frozen until someone runs up to you and stands there long enough to unfreeze you (it takes a few seconds). The player who is ‘it’ can actually win the game by freezing all the players at the same time. To play Freeze Tag, visit Biddy Dogwort a short distance away to the east [26.2S, 49.7W], and activate the Tag Beacon.

Let us make it an event. 3(

Last year I went there with just one other person and it was...well...boring.

If we can gather a few more people, it will be lots of fun.

Nice one Aza, you were faster and with the link provided a better guide than I've written :)

I agree Celge, we should organise a few Tags during the week, for the fun. It's a nice little mini-game, without any level requirement, so every member is able to participate (all you need to do is RUN a lot)

An addition to the guide, for low level members (below level15 the travel could be a bit dangerous due to the level17-18 beasts on the way): from the Bree West Gate rent a horse to Hengstacer farm. From the farm just walk south, through the Bree festival area, until you reach the Tag arena. Since it's a festival place, there won't be any beasts around, you can walk there safely.
But I'm sure there will be escorts too, most of the times. When I'm online, I will play a few rounds myself :)

O and remember some of you may still have maps to the Hobnanigan fields: it's just a 10 seconds walk from there ;)

I guess we need around 10 people to make it really fun.
Are there any suggestions for dates and time? I am available pretty much the whole week, I think.

I would love to play tag.
Pretty free all this week - just trying to catch up with coursework.

Oh, forgot to type that I won't be able to play on Sunday night. We have the Independence Day, so I will be away. But all others days I am free for tagging.

Hello!

I would love to join you, of course. I just need to know in advance when you will schedule it. I understand there's a few starting quests to it, so I'll be sure to get these ready today if possible.

I have been unable to log in for several days now. All my free time is being sucked into remediating a poem into TESV: Skyrim! And if you're familiar to Creation Kit software, you can imagine my struggle lol.

Are you guys still planning to do a Barrows run? Sadly I missed the day you planned it, yet I would like to do so. My character, Eyurien, is level 22 or 23 (not sure). She is a Lore Master so maybe she could be of some use as a supporter!

Let me know of your thoughts about this. Sorry for not be able to log in as much, but I miss you all already. And the home I recently bought lol ;)

Eyurien: I didnt do the Barrows thing either. I have time tomorrow or sunday evening. Im a level 19 tank hobbit, so i have to do a couple of missions first in order to reach level 20. Will do that tonight. Perhaps there are more of us and we could put together a group?

I will be online as much as I can today and tomorrow, so Eyurien and Trotskij, I may be able to go with you to GB if I see you online.

That is really nice of you, Tadegar. Unfortunately i dont have time until sunday evening. I will have a lady visiting this weekend. Perhaps i can talk her into a game of Tag (which i also didn't do yet), but certainly she will not allow me to go adventuring for hours :)

I can be online today. During the weekend I can try, but it may be difficult to stay focused since I am expecting a lot of interruptions that will require me to leave my laptop for extended periods. And without warning. Most likely I will take the weekend to advance in the peer assessments instead.

EDIT: Just did the three Barrows with the help of the kinship! Still, I volunteer to run it with whoever needs, just let me know when so I can plan my schedule ahead. I may be useful for, at least, scale down the dungeon to my level for a smooth run (I'm 25).

Tadegar, your avatar is epic win.

It really doesn't take as long as you'd imagine! Last time I did it, it took only about 30 minutes, although perhaps still not the kind of thing to do when your lady-friend is over :)

Thanks for the games!
I couldn't make it the other days...I was busy preparing this weeks assignment....I am almost done. We need to scan my drawings (need to go somewhere else because we can only scan normal sized pages and I drew a map....). I will upload my files and share them with you when I am done. :-))))

I guess you had lots of tagging fun :D

Will be online some time during the week.

xx
